We love the Midwest and we won't shut up about it.

The Midwestival is a chronicle of the people, places and stories that make the Midwest home.

Our community focuses on big city, small city and middle-of-nowhere explorations throughout this wonderfully unique region. We launched this project in September 2014 and are based mainly in the North (Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan), but we're always down for a road trip.

We've made it our mission to bring you features that make you want to stop and stay for a while — to discover locally made goods, to take grown-up history lessons and to meet your neighbors. To investigate what it means to be Midwestern or Northern or whatever it is we're going to call ourselves. To eat well, to drink well, to cross state lines and to never stop exploring your own backyard.

The family album

We are explorers and storytellers. We prefer lakes to oceans. We garnish our Bloody Marys with cheese curds and could act out The Mighty Ducks by heart.
